first_imgZambia President’s , Edgar LunguZambia will be seeking divine intervention for its failing currency and economy as it dedicates Sunday as a National Prayer day.All bars will be closed, and football matches cancelled for the day as the public joins in prayer and fasting on behalf of their country.The president announced the prayer day in September after the Kwacha fell 45 percent against the dollar majorly attributed to the high drop in the country’s main export copper’s price.“God is a god of miracles and if we ask him, he will bless us and the kwacha shall be restored to its former strength and the prices of goods shall again go down,” Bishop Simon Chihana, president of the International Fellowship of Christian Churches in Zambia, told AFP.Zambia has been faced with inflation that has seen increased food prices, drought which has led to constant power shortages due to low water – levels in Lake Kariba.The country will have a prayer gathering at the Heroes Stadium in the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka where at least 85 percent of the population is said to be Christian.– Source News24last_img
