PER AQUUM NiyamaThe first half of 2015 has been an incredibly productive one for Minor Hotel Group (MHG), having announced their expansion into four new countries, two of them being entirely new continents. Openings and Acquisitions January saw Banana Island Resort Daha by Anantara welcome its first guests. The resort sits off the coast of the Qatari capitall and boasts the first over water villas in the country. This was closely followed by the opening of AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort and Spa on the west coast of Mahé, while in Southeast Asia, MHG added Anantara’s flagship property, Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, to the portfolio after being reflagged from Four Seasons Bangkok.In Brazil, MHG acquired a hotel in Sao Paulo and a resort in the heart of an ecological reserve on the coast close to Salvador in Bahia. The most recent additions to MHG are six camps in Kenya after the acquisition of Cheli & Peacock Group of Companies by the Elewana Collection, taking the collective number of properties to 14 across Northern Tanzania, Kenya and Zanzibar.PER AQUUM Rebranding MHG’s luxury boutique brand, PER AQUUM has recently undergone a major brand evolution, revealing a new logo, revamped visual identity and fresh hotel names. The Anantara brand will debut in two new countries – Oman and Sri Lanka. Opening at the end of the year the 115-key Anantara Jabal Al Akhdar Resort will be the brand’s first property in Oman, which will be followed by Anantara Al Baleed Resort opening in Salalah in the south of the country in 2016 with 136 keys. In August the 152-key Anantara Tangalle Peace Haven Resort is scheduled to open on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, followed in 2016 by Anantara Kalutara Resort with 141 keys.
